Quilting for Beginners

with Carol Grant

Master the Basics of Quilting!

Build on your sewing skills by learning how to properly cut, piece accurately, square up quilt blocks, quilting the "sandwich" and how to bind a quilt. 

Helpful tools and tips will be shared and students will complete a table runner for their first project. 

Supplies/Materials to bring to class: Sewing machine and basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, tape measure, etc.), rotary cutter with mat, and quilting ruler. 

Students will need the following for their first project - Table Runner:

5 Fat Quarters or 1 Charm Pack or Scraps of 100% cotton (enough to get 40 [forty] 5 inch by 5 inch squares. 

1 and 1/2 yards of 100% cotton for backing and binding.

1 piece of quilt batting at least 20 inches by 50 inches.

Matching or coordinating thread. 

PLEASE NOTE THE Time & CLASS DATES: 

5:30p-8:30p

Thursdays - September 8, September 15, September 22, &  September 29.

No classes - October 6 and October 13. 

Thursdays - October 20 & October 27. 

No class - November 3.

Thursday - November 10.  

Location: United Technologies Center (UTC), 200 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401

Students are asked to use the UTC back entrance (off Mount Hope Avenue) and park along the edge of the grass. The class will be taught in the UTC Law Enforcement Room, which is the first classroom on left when you enter through the back door.
